A history strategy game for your phone — no app needed
If you want a history strategy game on your phone without installing an app, Crown & Plough, a free history life-sim browser game, has a dedicated mobile layout. Speed and next-year controls sit in a bar at the bottom, and event windows open from the bottom where your thumb is.
There is no app store, no download size and no account. A family you started on your PC can be moved to your phone with a backup code.

What it looks like on a phone
- Bottom control bar — speed (1–8×) and next year at the bottom of the screen.
- Event windows — open from the bottom, within reach of your thumb.
- Map — tap any of the 250 regions to see it and what you can do there (forge a claim, march, set out on an adventure).
- Folded panels — minor sections start folded so a small screen stays readable; the Simple view trims management panels further.

Tips for playing on a phone
- On a commute, run at 2–4× and step in only for big events. A whole life takes 10–30 minutes, so one or two trips can finish one.
- Scenarios have a story from the start and suit short sessions: try The marshes of Athelney, Alfred hiding in the marshes in 878, or The Table at the Café de Foy on the eve of the Bastille.
- Use your browser’s “Add to Home Screen” to open it full-screen like an app.
- Clearing your phone browser’s data deletes saves; copy a backup code from Settings › Save backup for a family you care about.
